Brownwood, Texas - The Howard Payne University women's soccer program played host to #6 ranked Hardin-Simmons University on Saturday afternoon at Citizens National Bank Field. Despite playing the Cowgirls tough throughout the match, Hardin-Simmons was able to pick up the 5-0 result to push their record to a perfect 13-0 (9-0 in ASC.)

The Lady Jackets defense faced an onslaught of shots and offensive attacks during the match. In total, the Cowgirls managed to record 28 shots, 15 of them on target, to help put the pressure on Howard Payne's offense. However, the Lady Jackets were unable to shake their defenders and came away with just one shot and one shot on goal in the game to drop to 5-6-1 (4-5-0) on the season.

Senior goalkeeper, Nicole Goodwin deflected 10 shots in the game while senior midfielder Rachel Crane recorded Howard Payne's only shot on goal during the day's action. Hardin-Simmons was able to collect most of their scoring off of corners, tallying 12 total corner kicks as opposed to HPU's three. 

Once getting the ball into the box, the Cowgirls used their height to push a couple of headers past goal to give them a cushion and they would hold on down the stretch to collect the victory. Howard Payne currently rests in 8th place in the ASC standings and is looking to finish the regular season strong to help launch a historic playoff appearance.
