BROWNWOOD, Texas - The Howard Payne University women's soccer team could not overcome a three goal second period by East Texas Baptist University and fell 5-1 Thursday afternoon at Citizens National Bank Field.
Howard Payne was outshot by conference opponent East Texas Baptist 30-3 overall and 21-1 in shots on goal. ETBU would also take 12 corner kicks to HPU's one.
Down 4-0 in the second period, HPU took advantage of its only shot on goal when Morgan Patterson netted her second goal of the season in the 66th minute to bring the Lady Jackets to within three, 4-1.
East Texas Baptist scored goals in the 9th, 28th, 61st and 87th minutes of the match.Â

Howard Payne is now 5-8-1 overall and 4-7-0 in American Southwest Conference play. East Texas Baptist stands at 5-8-1 overall and 4-7-0. The Lady Jackets will finish out the regular season on Saturday at home versus LeTourneau University at 1:00 pm. It will be Senior Day and the eight Lady Jacket seniors will be recognized before the match.
