SHERMAN, Texas - The Howard Payne University volleyball team ended its opening weekend with losses to Lawrence University and Austin College finishing 2-2 at the Austin College Classic.
Despite coming away with two losses, the Lady Jackets were very competitive in both matches on day two of the Austin College Classic. Howard Payne took Lawrence University to five sets falling 3-2 (25-22,25-27,26-24,14-25,12-15) and lost to tournament host Austin College 3-0 (22-25,14-25,18-25).
In the fifth set loss to Lawrence, HPU was led in Kills by
Jordan Rogers with 11 followed by
Kailey Doering with 9 and Zhartezia Bradley with 8.
Jordan Rogers had 5 Service Aces with Zhartezia Bradley leading in Blocks with 4.
Cheyanne Lovelady recorded 30 assists and
Jordan Livingston finished with 32 Digs.
In the final match of the day versus Austin College, HPU was led by Zhartezia Bradley with 9 Kills and
Cheyanne Lovelady with 28 assists.
Ashley Moore added 15 Digs to her weekend numbers,
Howard Payne now stands at 2-2 overall and will travel to Atlanta, GA next weekend to play in the Emory University tournament.
