MARSHALL, Texas - The Howard Payne University softball team was defeated 8-0 during the final game of a three-game series vs. East Texas Baptist University on Monday afternoon.
Morgean Schultz,
Katelyn Dickerson,
Kayla Boucher, and
Ferrah Ford each registered singles during the game and
Tia Campos pitched four full inning's in the circle for the Lady Jackets.
Howard Payne came out intent to do some damage early and they were able to threaten in the top of the first.
Katelyn Dickerson singled down the right-field line with two-outs and
Kayla Boucher followed with a single through the right side to put her in scoring position.Â
The Tigers were able to get out of the pinch and proceeded to bring three runs across the board to give themselves some cushion heading into the bottom of the inning.Â
The Lady Jackets were able to hold East Texas Baptist University scoreless in the second but five more unanswered runs followed in the third and the fourth to give the Tigers the 8-0 victory in five innings. Â
Howard Payne wraps up their first conference series with the result and will now return home to play host to the University of Texas at Dallas. The three-game series will begin with a doubleheader on March 2nd at 1:00 PM. Links to live video and stats can be found at HPUsports.com
