BROWNWOOD, Texas - The Howard Payne University men's soccer team picked up their second American Southwest Conference win of the season with a 2-1 victory over McMurry University this afternoon on senior day..

Yellow Jacket Alexander Paz was able to find the back of the net during the 28th minute of the game off of a free kick from teammate Khaled Aneem for the first goal of the game. It was Paz's third goal of the season.

The Jackets extended their leas to 2-0 in the 43rd minute of the first half when senior midfielder Joshua Rodriquez was able to score off a Paz assist. It was Rodriguez's second goal of the year.

McMurry came out strong from halftime scoring in the 52nd minute, but the Jacket defense held to the finale 2-1.

Howard Payne led in total shots 16-12 and 6-3 in shots on goals. Freshman Yellow Jacket was led HPU with four shot, two shots on goal, one assist and one goal.

Senior goalkeeper Matt Prall played the full 90 minutes of the match recording two saves.

HPU is now 4-11 overall and 2-6 in ASC action, while McMurry is now 5-8-1 overall and 2-5-1 in conference play. The Yellow Jackets will hit the road this next Thursday Oct 24th to play a 7:30 pm game against Letourneau University in Longview.
