Jackets Lose At Hardin-Simmons

Box Score ABILENE, Texas – The Howard Payne University men's basketball team dropped a conference matchup with Hardin-Simmons University 106-58 Saturday afternoon at the Mabee Athletic Center.

The Yellow Jackets could not get started offensively in the game shooting only 30.4% from the field and 28.2% from behind the arc.

It was all Hardin-Simmons from the start with the Cowboys connecting on 7 of 19 three-pointers in the first period.

Jase Miguez led the Jackets with 13 points. Joshua Taylor grabbed eight rebounds along with seven points. Jayden Modrall scored seven off the bench.

HSU was led by Layton Sharp with 16 points followed by Aiden Walsh with 14 points. Kyle Brennon had eight assists.

Howard Payne is now 1-13 overall and 0-4 in American Southwest Conference action. Hardin-Simmons stands at 11-3 overall and 5-0 in league play. The Lady Jackets will continue on the road next week with a Thursday game at East Texas Baptist (7:30 pm) and Saturday at LeTourneau University (3:00 pm).
