BROWNWOOD, Texas- The Howard Payne University men's soccer team fell 2-1 to Our Lady of the Lake in the Yellow Jackets home opener on Wednesday afternoon at Citizens National Bank Field.
 
The Saints scored a goal in the 18^th minute of the game to put the Jackets down 1-0. The Jackets took one shot in the first half and the Saints took four.
 
In the 49^th minute of the game, the Jackets went down 2-0. Alexander Paz scored a goal for Howard Payne to put them back within one in the 86^th minute. He was assisted by Obed Santos.
 
The Jackets were unable to come back in the end, losing the home opener 2-1. The Jackets took four total shots while the Saints had 11.
 
The Jackets start the 2020-21 season 0-1 while Our Lady of the Lakes moves to 1-0 . The Jackets will play an exhibition game against Dallas Baptist University on Feb. 5^th in Dallas, Texas. Their first conference game will be on Feb. 12^th against the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor in Belton, Texas.
