BROWNWOOD, Texas – The Howard Payne Men's soccer team took down the University of Dallas Crusaders 3-1 in today's matchup at the Citizens National Bank Field.
Howard Payne and University of Dallas took 12 shots, each with four shots on goal.
Zach Moreno scored the first goal of the afternoon on an assists from
Gael Cancino in the 20th minute to give Howard Payne the 1-0 advantage.
Daniel Hernandez scored in the 23rd minute of the match on an assist from
Anthony Herrera. HPU led UDallas 2-0 at the halfway mark.
The Crusaders scored in the 65
th minute making it a 2-1 game.
Anthony Herrera scored with seven seconds left in the match giving the Yellow Jackets the 3-1 victory.
Josh Williams was the goalkeeper in todays match for the Jackets. He played all 90 minutes and recorded three saves for HPU.
The Yellow Jackets are now 2-3-1 and will play Wayland Baptist University on Saturday, September 18
th in Brownwood, Texas at the Citizens National Bank Soccer field at 2:00 p.m.
