BROWNWOOD, Texas- The Howard Payne University women's soccer team took down Paul Quinn College 2-0 in a solid showing at Citizens National Bank Field.
Marisah Mata and
Kendra Cecil highlighted the match, scoring one goal each.
The match was close for the first 45 minutes of play. The score was 0-0 going into the second period. However, the Lady Jackets took 16 shots while the Tigers only took three.
Marisah Mata got HPU on the board, scoring on an assist from
Lillie Turner in the 53rd minute of the match.
Kendra Cecil scored in the 89th minute of the match to put the game away for the Jackets. The final score was 2-0.
Delaney Castor and
Emily Williamson each played 45 minutes in the goal for Howard Payne and allowed zero goals.
Howard Payne improves to 2-0 on the season and will play Jarvis Christian College on Monday, Sept. 6th, at home.
