BROWNWOOD, Texas- The Howard Payne University Yellow Jackets earn their first conference win against the UT Dallas Comets 2-1Â Saturday afternoon at Citizens National Bank Field. It was the first ever win for the HPU men's soccer program over UT Dallas.

The Comets started off the game with a goal during the 29
th minute, making the score 1-0 at half time. Just one minute into the second half, HPU's
Daniel Hernandez shot and scored off of a penalty kick to tie the game 1-1. In a close second half,
Gael Cancino scored a goal in the 75
th minute to put the Yellow Jackets ahead 2-1. The assist was made by
Taylor Hefner. The Yellow Jackets held off the Comets for the rest of the game for the win.

Howard Payne took seven shots total with four on goal.
Alexander Paz and
Daniel Hernandez both had two shots each. The remaining shots were taken by
Julio Colmenares,
Gael Cancino, and
Oscar De Santiago.
Eduardo Flores was in goal for all 90 minutes of the game with a total of eight saves.
The Yellow Jackets are now 4-4-2 on the season and 1-1 in conference play. The Yellow Jackets play in Austin, Texas against Concordia University Texas. Kickoff is at 7:30 pm on Thursday, Oct. 6
