AUSTIN, Texas – The Howard Payne University men's basketball had five players in double-digits in a 91-78 loss at Concordia University Texas Saturday afternoon in conference play.
The Yellow Jackets were led by
Myles Brown with 16 points and six rebounds. Brown was 4 of 8 from behind the arc in the game.
Jarod Johnson finished with 15 points, six rebounds, and three assists for the Jackets.
Armonie Ramey had 14 points,
Jerren Godfrey had 13 points and seven rebounds, and
Harold Myart added 12 points and four assists for HPU.
Howard Payne trailed 47-34 at the half, but 52.9% shooting by the Jackets in the second half would not be enough in the 91-78 final.
The Jackets shot 42.5% from the field in the game while the Tornados connected on 51.5% of their shots.
HPU did win the turnover battle over CTX 17-12 and points off turnovers 29-12.
Concordia was led by Jaylon Johnson with 21 points and five assists, and Antoine Henderson with 19 points.
Howard Payne is now 2-9 overall and 0-6 in American Southwest Conference play. Stands at 5-4 overall and 3-1 in league play. The Yellow Jackets' next game will be on Dec. 21st at D-I Abilene Christian University. The exhibition game will start at 6:00 pm.
