ALPINE, TX – The Howard Payne University softball team dropped games one and two of its series today against the Sul Ross State University Lobos, 0-8 and 1-9.

Game One
The Lady Jackets were outhit 1-11 in game one and committed three errors which resulted in the 0-8 loss.

The Lobos scored two runs in the first inning, one in the fourth, two in the fifth, and three in the sixth.

Madison Love recorded the only hit for the Lady Jackets with a single to left center.

Bree Cason pitched 5.2 innings for the Lady Jackets recording eight runs on 11 hits, and striking out two.

Game Two
Howard Payne scored the first run of the game on a single to third from Kiley Persons allowing Madison Forrester to come home.

The Lobos brought in three runs in the first inning, four in the second, and two in the fourth to win 1-9.

Heather Wineman recorded the loss pitching 4.0 innings, allowing nine runs on 10 hits and striking out one.

The Lady Jackets are now 4-24 overall, and 1-19 in ASC conference play. The Lobos advance to 16-14 overall, and 9-11 in conference.

The last game of the series will be played tomorrow, April 10th in Alpine, Texas starting at 11:00 a.m.
