BROWNWOOD, Texas -- The Howard Payne University men's soccer team notched a 2-1 victory over Concordia (TX) Saturday (Oct. 7) at home at Citizens National Bank Field.
The victory improved Howard Payne's record to 2-9-0 overall and 1-3-0 in ASC action.
How it Happened
Howard Payne started the scoring when Anthony Herrera scored his first goal of the season in the 38th minute, assisted by Ashton Riedel.
The Yellow Jackets tacked on another score on a goal from Ethan Mauldin -- his second goal of the season -- in the 63rd minute, assisted by Taylor Hefner.
Brandon Padilla made a crucial save in the 80th minute on a penalty kick.
Concordia (TX) closed the gap to 2-1 on Gustavo Hernandez's 82nd-minute goal, assisted by Paul Claffey. Neither team scored again in the game.
