SHERMAN, Texas – The Howard Payne University men's basketball team fell on a game-winning shot from Austin College in a 74-72 loss in Sherman, Texas on Tuesday, November 21

Despite holding Austin College to 36.4% shooting, HPU lost on a last second three-pointer in a 74-72 finish.
The Yellow Jackets outscored the Roos 37-35 in bench points led by
Hudson Johnson's 15 points.
Jarod Johnson posted 12 points, six assists, and three rebounds as well. HPU knocked down four treys in the first half to give them a 39-32 lead heading into the break.
The Roos outrebounded HPU 49-37 resulting in 22 second-chance points behind 24 offensive rebounds. Howard Payne won the turnover battle with 13 Austin turnovers forced, resulting in 13 points for the Yellow Jackets.
HPU shot 44.8% from the field and knocked down seven three-pointers at a 41.2% clip. Austin College shot 36.4% on 77 field goal attempts. The Roos made nine treys on 33 total attempts for a 27.3% rate.
The Yellow Jackets were led by
Hudson Johnson's 15 points with
Armonie Ramey following right behind with 14 of his own. Ramey had a game-high four steals as well. Rounding out the three double-digit scorers for HPU was
Jarod Johnson who racked up 12 points.
Leading the way for the Roos was Kidus Getenet who posted 20 points including the game-winning shot. Nate Williams finished with 16 points off the bench as well.
