After a high scoring first half, McMurry was able to head into the break with a lead of 54-49. The War Hawks were able to take control in the paint for the first 20 minutes, giving them the five-point advantage.
 
After a back-and-forth game, HPU was able to take the advantage around the rim as they outscored McMurry 30-18 inside the paint in the second stanza. The Yellow Jackets' bench scored 38 points compared to the War Hawks 15, helping deliver HPU a 104-100 victory.
 
With an even battle on the board between both teams, HPU was able to take the advantage in the turnover battle, forcing 19 McMurry turnovers.
 
Howard Payne shot 52.1% (38-73) from the field while also knocking down 10 treys at a 47.6% rate. McMurry was able to convert on 46.8% (37-79) of their shots while nailing 10 three-pointers as well.
 
The Yellow Jackets were led by two 20-point performances from both Jarod Johnson and Hudson Johnson. Following behind was Armonie Ramey who posted 17 points and Luke Whidbee who scored 12 of his own. Rounding out the double-digit scorers for HPU was Myles Brown who scored 10 points.
 
Leading the way for the War Hawks was Coco Rose who posted 40 points. Following behind was Elias Garcias who added 17 points.
 
HPU will be back in Abilene, Texas on Sunday, December 10^th as they will play an exhibition versus Abilene Christian University with tip-off set for 3:00 PM.
