BROWNWOOD, Texas - The Howard Payne University men's tennis team defeated Austin College 8-1 in non-conference action Saturday afternoon at the Nabers Tennis Center.

The Yellow Jackets started the day taking all three doubles points, 8-4, 8-4, and by default in the number three double spot.

HPU would only drop the number four singles spot in a third set tie-breaker on their way to the 8-1 victory.

The Jackets won all the other singles points in straight sets with the number one and five going first set tie-breaks.

Howard Payne is now 1-1 on the year and Austin College stands at 0-4 overall. The Jackets will play next on Saturday, Feb. 25 in Kerrville, Texas versus Dallas Baptist University and Schreiner University.
