LONGVIEW, Texas - The Howard Payne University women's basketball fell 58-50 at LeTourneau University Thursday evening in conference action. HPU's
Asia Mitchell finished with a season-high 17 points.
Down 40-26 going into the fourth quarter, Howard Payne made a late game push pulling within four 47-43 with just under five minutes remaining in the game. The Lady Jackets run would come up short and LeTourneau claimed the win 58-50.
HPU's
Asia Mitchell finished with a season-high 17 points and nine rebounds. Adding three assists and three steals, Mitchell scored nine in the final period to help spark HPU's late game run.
Anna Beamesderfer added 10 points and
Taysie Trejo followed with nine points.
Howard Payne forced 29 Letu turnovers in the game but were outrebounded 56-38 in the game.
LeTourneau was led by Kylie Weeks with 17 points and Haylee Jordan with 15 rebounds.
HPU is now 6-8 overall and 2-5 in American Southwest Conference action. Letu stands at 5-8 overall and 2-4Â in league play. The Lady Jackets will play next on Saturday at East Texas Baptist in Marshall, Texas. It will be a 1:00 pm start time.
