LONGVIEW, Texas -- The Howard Payne University men's soccer team doubled LeTourneau University's shots in the second half but lost to LeTourneau 1-0 Tuesday (Nov. 5) in the quarterfinal round of the 2024 ASC Men's Soccer Championship Tournament.

After being outshot 10-1 in the first period, Howard Payne got off 14 shots in the second half, compared to seven for LeTourneau.

LeTourneau got the only goal of the game on a penalty kick score in the 29th minute.

Howard Payne was led in shots by Ethan Mauldin with three, one on goal. Xzavier Saldana, and Taylor Hefner both also added three shots each. Phrabvir Singh, Anothony Herrera, and Hefner also had shots on goal for the Jackets.

How it Happened

After LeTourneau took a 1-0 lead into halftime, Howard Payne kept LeTourneau scoreless the remainder of the game. Dane Tinkis led Howard Payne with six saves. The Yellow Jackets recorded 15 shots in the loss, four of them on goal. Howard Payne faced 17 LeTourneau shots, eight of them on goal.
