LONGVIEW, TX - The Howard Payne University softball team could not take down LeTourenau in a double-header dropping game one 10-2 and game two 5-4 in Longview, Texas on Saturday.
GAME 1 | LeTourneau 10, Howard Payne 2
Junior Makayla Wesley went 1-for-2 with a double for the Howard Payne Lady Jackets in a 10-2 loss to LeTourneau on Saturday.
Junior Kayla Camacho (2-5) got the ball to start for Howard Payne (8-12, 1-7) and took the loss.
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Lady Jackets were trailing 8-0 in the fifth inning when they first put runs on the board. Senior Ashley Pruiett drove in two runs for Howard Payne with a single, that scored junior Bryce Allen-Bourland and sophomore Makayla Fuentes. The Lady Jackets were unable to get any closer, as LeTourneau added two runs to their tally on the way to a 10-2 final.

The Howard Payne Lady Jackets fell 5-4 in an eight-inning matchup to LeTourneau in game two.
Senior Bree Cason (6-8) got the ball to start for Howard Payne (8-13, 1-9) and took the loss.
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Lady Jackets got on the board immediately, starting their scoring with one run in the top of the first inning. Howard Payne got an RBI single from junior Makayla Wesley, scoring junior Elise Munoz from third base.
Letourneau failed to push any runs across before they built on their lead in the fourth inning. Howard Payne scored once on an RBI single off the bat of sophomore McKeanne Saenz, which brought the Lady Jackets lead to 2-0.
LeTourneau narrowed Howard Payne's lead to 2-1 before the Lady Jackets stretched the advantage to 3-1 in the sixth inning. The Lady Jackets scored a run on sophomore Makayla Fuentes' one-out RBI double.
Howard Payne held Letourneau scoreless before their offense got back to their scoring ways the next inning. The Lady Jackets scored once on an RBI single off the bat of sophomore Ashley Blaylock, bringing the Howard Payne advantage to 4-1. The Lady Jackets were unable to hold the lead, as LeTourneau scored four times over the remaining one inning to grab the 5-4 win.
