WACO, Texas – The Howard Payne University women's tennis team battled the McMurry Warhawks in a 2-7 loss in Waco, Texas on Saturday.
The Lady Jackets were unable to defeat the Warhawks in doubles, losing straight sets in each spot.
Victoria Ramos and
Lexie Nave fought in the number one doubles losing 8-4 while
Zoe Sprayberry and
Nina Delafuente lost the two slot 8-4 as well. McMurry won number three doubles by default.
HPU found two wins in singles with
Nina Delafuente taking number three singles 7-6, 6-7, 10-7 and
Zoe Sprayberry winning the four spot 4-6, 6-3, 10-8.
Victoria Ramos finished just short of the win for number singles as she lost in the final set.
The Lady Jackets will be back in action March 9
th as they travel to the University of Dallas for a road match with an expected start time of 3:00 PM.
