BELTON, Texas --The Howard Payne University volleyball team fell on the road in a four set (21-25, 19-25, 25-19, 21-25) loss to the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor Tuesday at the Mayborn Campus Center.
The loss dropped Howard Payne's record to 5-1 overall and 0-1 in ASC play.
The Yellow Jackets were led by a double-double from Tara Bennett, who registered 11 kills and 12 digs on the day. Makenzie Weddel also added nine kills to help the attack. On the defensive end, Emilee Casey chipped in for with 17 digs to go with seven blocks from Rylee McAlexander.

How It Happened
SET 1 | The Yellow Jackets found themselves in an early hole, losing the first set 25-21. Howard Payne trailed by as many as nine points as Mary Hardin-Baylor grabbed the advantage for good at 8-7 in a set that was tied up five times before the Crusaders took control.
SET 2 | A 25-19 second-set loss put Howard Payne in a 2-0 hole in the match. The Yellow Jackets couldn't endure a ferocious Mary Hardin-Baylor rally in the second set, losing after leading by seven points at 13-6 earlier in the set.
SET 3 | Howard Payne rallied back to pull within two sets to one, winning their first set of the match in the third stanza. The Yellow Jackets took the set 25-19. Howard Payne took the lead for good at 9-8after coming back from a two-point deficit, the Crusaders largest lead of the set. This came in a set that featured five ties and five lead changes.
SET 4 | Howard Payne couldn't build off the set-three victory and fell in the fourth set 25-21 to drop the match. Mary Hardin-Baylor grabbed the advantage for good at 21-20 and Howard Payne was never able to recover in a set that was tied up seven times before the Crusaders took over in the second half of the stanza.
The Lady Jackets play next on Friday at Concordia Texas in Austin. It will be a non-conference double-header starting at 4:00 pm.
