RICHARDSON, Texas --The Howard Payne volleyball team needed only four sets (31-29, 25-19, 16-25, 25-20) to knock off the UT Dallas Comets Friday on the road at UTD Activity Center.
The out-of-conference win improved the Yellow Jackets' overall record to 6-3 on the season.
The Yellow Jackets were led by a double-double from Makenzie Weddel, who registered 18 kills and 12 digs on the day. Tara Bennett also added nine kills to help the offense. On the defensive end, Emilee Casey chipped in for with 23 digs to go with four blocks from Ryann Jones.

How It Happened
SET 1 | The Yellow Jackets won the first point and held the lead the rest of the way to win the first set 31-29. Howard Payne led by as many as eight points at 40-32 before finishing off the set.
SET 2 | Howard Payne took set two 25-19 to promptly take a 2-0 lead. The Yellow Jackets led from the first point on in the set to secure the victory. Howard Payne opened up as much as a 16 point lead at 40-24 before finishing off the set, collecting 15 kills in the process.
SET 3 | Howard Payne couldn't finish off the sweep, losing set three to make their lead two sets to one in the match. The Yellow Jackets dropped the first point and never took the lead before falling in the set 25-16.
SET 4 | Howard Payne then responded to end the match with a 25-20 fourth-set victory. The Yellow Jackets scored first and never trailed in the set to earn the victory. Howard Payne opened up as much as a 10 point lead at 32-22 before closing out the stanza. Howard Payne got a solid defensive performance from a front row that blocked four Texas-Dallas attacks in the stanza and capitalized on 10 Texas-Dallas attacking errors on the way to victory.
The Lady Jackets next play on Tuesday, September 24th in Hobbs, New Mexico against University of the Southwest (N.M.)
