The Howard Payne Lady Jackets wrapped up their final game before the Thanksgiving break yesterday at Brownwood Coliseum, falling 80–55 to Southwestern University but showing several encouraging signs to carry into December. Senior forward
Caitlyn Parsons led the effort with 17 points and eight rebounds, while
Caitlyn Panuco added 13 points, including a momentum-building three at the end of the first quarter.
Kaley Nicholson also provided a lift off the bench with nine points and five rebounds.
After a tough opening frame, the Jackets settled in and found better rhythm in the middle quarters, attacking the paint, getting to the free-throw line, and battling closely on the glass with 33 total rebounds — 13 of them offensive. HPU's energy, effort on the boards, and stretches of improved ball movement stood out as positives to build on as the team heads into the holiday break.
The Jackets now turn their focus to a December 2 rematch at Southwestern in Georgetown before returning home on December 12 to host Centenary College.
