BROWNWOOD, Texas - The Howard Payne University women's tennis team dropped their home matchup with a 7-0 defeat against nationally ranked California Lutheran University Monday morning at the Nabers Tennis Center.
The Lady Jackets saw impressive efforts all around on Monday, with Doubles #3 team consisting of
Kendra Werlein and
Kaylee Mcleod showing off their skill set in a narrow defeat.
Moving into singles action, Howard Payne just couldn't get into the rhythm that Coach Hawthorne was trying to put into motion. However, during the number six singles matchup,
Caroline Marshall was pushing California Lutheran's Evelyn Oltmans to the brink of defeat until Oltmans ultimately won the set.
It wasn't the day the Lady Jackets were anticipating, but going against tough out-of-state competition will always better the athletes. Iron sharpens iron.
HPU will be in action next at home this Friday, February 21st, at 11 AM.
