RICHARDSON, Texas --The Howard Payne men's basketball team scored 32 points off of turnovers, but fell 109-76 to the Texas-Dallas Comets on the road Thursday.
The Yellow Jackets (11-13) had four players score in double figures, led by Armonie Ramey, who had 13 points and two steals. Trey Jackson added 12 points and two steals and Nathan Scott helped out with 12 points and three steals off the bench.
Led by Jordan McClendon's three offensive rebounds, Howard Payne did a great job crashing the offensive glass, pulling down 11 boards that resulted in 14 second chance points.
Howard Payne did a great job disrupting Texas-Dallas shots in the contest, coming away with five blocks. McClendon led the way individually for the Yellow Jackets with one rejection.
How It Happened
Howard Payne struggled out of the gate, falling behind 53-41 heading into halftime.
Texas-Dallas kept widening its lead after intermission, constructing a 70-54 advantage before Howard Payne went on a 5-0 run to shrink the deficit to 70-59 with 11:42 to go in the contest. Texas-Dallas responded and outscored the Yellow Jackets the rest of the way, ending the game with a final score of 109-76. Howard Payne shot well from three-point range in the half, hitting seven shots from deep to score 21 of its 35 points.
