GAME 3 | Schreiner 3, Howard Payne 2
KERRVILLE, TX --The Howard Payne Yellow Jackets took a 1-0 lead into the sixth inning, but could not hang on and fell 3-2 to the Schreiner Mountaineers Friday.
D. Sanchez (1-4) came out of the bullpen for Howard Payne (2-9) and took the loss. A. Aviles was a bright spot for the Yellow Jackets, starting the ballgame and throwing five innings, giving up one run on three hits.
Offensively, the Yellow Jackets were led by E. Munoz, who went 3-for-3 on the day with two doubles, a triple and a walk. M. Wesley furnished a standout effort as well, going 1-for-1 with a home run, two walks and an RBI. M. Garza also helped out for Howard Payne, putting together one hit in two trips to the plate while adding an RBI.
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Yellow Jackets put runs on the scoreboard first, starting the scoring in the fourth inning. Wesley put Howard Payne on the board with a one-out solo home run off A. Mendoza.
After the Mountaineers rallied to tie the ballgame at one, the Yellow Jackets came back to retake the lead in the seventh inning. Howard Payne scored once on an RBI single off the bat of Garza, which brought the score to 2-1 in favor of the Yellow Jackets. The Yellow Jackets were unable to hold the lead, as Schreiner scored two times in the bottom half of the seventh to grab the 3-2 win.

KERRVILLE, TX --The Howard Payne Yellow Jackets responded from tied 6-6 in the sixth inning to win in exciting fashion, earning a 7-6 victory over the Schreiner Mountaineers Friday.
D. Sanchez (3-3) picked up the victory out of the bullpen for Howard Payne (3-9). The right-hander went four innings, giving up one run on six hits.
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Yellow Jackets got on the board immediately, starting their scoring with one run in the top of the first inning. Howard Payne's offense started clicking and put up four runs, including a two-run double off the bat of A. Salazar.
The Yellow Jackets then lost some of their lead, expanding on their advantage in the second inning after the Mountaineers cut it to 4-1. E. Munoz came across to score the lone run of the inning for Howard Payne, which brought the Yellow Jackets lead to 5-1.
Schreiner fought back to tie the ballgame at five before Howard Payne reclaimed a 6-5 advantage in the fifth inning.
The Mountaineers then evened up the ballgame at six before Howard Payne came back to reclaim their advantage in the seventh inning. The Yellow Jackets scored once on an RBI single off the bat of J. Rodriguez, bringing the Howard Payne advantage to 7-6. The score remained 7-6 for the rest of the game, as the Yellow Jackets held on for the win.
