ABILENE, Texas- The Howard Payne University men's soccer team (3-4-2, 1-1-1) will look to maintain momentum when the team continues ASC Conference play with a road matchup against Hardin-Simmons University (2-6, 1-1) at the HSU Soccer Complex on Saturday evening at 7:30 PM.

LAST TIME OUT

The Yellow Jackets beat ASC opponent McMurry University by a score 3-2 Thursday night at the Wilford Moore Stadium. Sophomore forward Andrew Womack, sophomore defender Nate Smith and freshman forward Connor Parker were HPU's goalscorers.

SCOUTING REPORT
Hardin-Simmons University comes into the match with one win, against McMurry University, in their last five matches. The Cowboys' latest result was a 2-1 loss at home to Schreiner University. Hardin-Simmons averages just over one goal scored per game, while allowing over two goals per game.

Landon Newmann is the Cowboys points leader with eight. He has scored four goals this season in eight games. Two goalkeepers have played in eight games for Hardin-Simmons. Joel McPherson has started all eight games but has split time with Joaquin Sanchez.  McPherson has made 30 saves while allowing eight goals, and Sanchez has made 28 saves while allowing 11 goals.

Howard Payne comes into the contest sitting third in the ASC standings. Hardin-Simmons is in fourth place.

Lara and Parker are tied for second in assists (2), tied for fourth in points (8) and tied for sixth in goals (3). Lara is also second in shots on goal (11) and tied for third in game-winning goals (1). Parker is also tied for third in shots on goal (10), eighth in shots (17) and tied for eighth in points (8).

Sophomore midfielder Francisco Perez is also among the conference leaders in shots on goal. He is currently tied for sixth (9)

Sophomore goalkeeper Adrian Villa ranks second in saves per game (33, 4.71), and shutouts (2), third in goals against average (1.80) and fourth in saves with a save percentage of .733.
