Box Score Howard Payne capped its final home game of the season with a dominant 104-86 victory over East Texas Baptist on Senior Night inside The Brownwood Coliseum. The Yellow Jackets honored seniors Jordan McClendon, Ben Phillip, and Armonie Ramey before tip-off, celebrating their leadership and contributions to the program. The festivities also included recognition of Yellow Jacket Club members, whose generosity and faith‑filled support uplifts more than 350 Howard Payne student‑athletes and makes a lasting impact on Jacket athletics.
On the court, Howard Payne poured in 104 points behind a balanced and efficient offensive attack. Senior standout Ben Phillip led all scorers with an impressive 32 points while knocking down six 3‑pointers and dishing out nine assists. Jamie Puentes provided a strong scoring punch with 15 points, including three triples, while Carter May dominated the glass with 12 rebounds to go with his 11 points. Jordan McClendon added 11 points and four rebounds in his final home appearance, and Nathan Scott chipped in 18 points with two triples as the Jackets stretched the lead throughout the game. Carter Eddy also contributed 10 points, helping Howard Payne maintain its offensive rhythm from start to finish.
The Tigers battled to keep pace, but Howard Payne's efficient shooting, active ball movement, and depth lifted the Jackets to a big home victory. The Jackets shot better than 52 percent from the field and nearly 48 percent from beyond the arc, turning strong possessions into sustained scoring runs.
Head Coach Nadir Dalleh reflected on the significance of the night: "To send these seniors out with a win at home means everything. Jordan, Ben, and Armonie have poured their hearts into this program, and their leadership has set the tone all year. We're grateful to our fans and the Yellow Jacket Club for the energy and support they bring. Tonight was a celebration of all they've meant to this team."
The victory provided a fitting end to the home slate, giving Jacket Nation one more night to cheer on their team, honor their seniors, and celebrate the community that supports Howard Payne men's basketball both on and off the court. The Jackets will hit the road next on Saturday, February 21st against The University of Mary Hardin-Baylor in Belton, TX for the final game of the regular season.
