Howard Payne women's tennis secured a decisive 3-0 victory over McMurry on March 21, taking care of business in a shortened match where the Lady Jackets controlled play from start to finish.

Howard Payne wasted little time in doubles action, as Nina Delafuente and Victoria Ramos delivered a strong 6-1 win at the No. 1 position to set the tone early. With limited availability on the opposing side, the remaining doubles courts went unfinished, but the Lady Jackets had already established momentum.

In singles play, Howard Payne continued to dominate. Hannah Lightner turned in a sharp performance at No. 1 singles, earning a straight-set victory 6-2, 6-1. Kendra Werlein followed with an equally commanding showing at the No. 2 spot, blanking her opponent 6-0, 3-0 to seal the team result.

With McMurry unable to field a full lineup, the remaining singles matches were left unfinished, giving Howard Payne the 3-0 sweep.

"Overall, I thought we handled the match the way we're supposed to," said head coach Josh Lopez. "We stayed focused, took care of the courts we had, and played with good energy from start to finish. It's never easy when a match is shortened, but our players did a great job of staying locked in and executing."

The Lady Jackets showcased efficiency and focus throughout the match, capitalizing on every opportunity and delivering a clean result.

Howard Payne will return to action on Friday, April 3rd at home in Brownwood against East Texas Baptist University to open conference play.
