Yellow Jackets Land Two on ASC All-Conference First Team

Nava, Salazar Earn First Team All-ASC Honors

The Yellow Jackets buzzed their way onto the conference stage this season, landing two players on the American Southwest Conference All-Conference First Team. Freshman Siannah Nava and sophomore Alyana Salazar earned the honors after delivering standout performances both at the plate and in the infield, helping lead Howard Payne throughout the 2026 campaign.
 
Freshman infielder/utility player, Siannah Nava earned ASC All-Conference First Team honors after putting together an impressive debut season for the Yellow Jackets. Nava started 25 games and hit .324 at the plate with 23 hits, including four doubles and a home run, while driving in 11 runs. She also showed discipline in the batter's box with five walks and six hit-by-pitches, consistently finding ways to get on base and spark the Howard Payne offense throughout the season.

Sophomore infielder Alyana Salazar was named to the ASC All-Conference First Team after serving as a steady presence in the Yellow Jackets' lineup throughout the season. Salazar started 27 games and totaled 23 hits with four doubles and a home run while batting .284 on the year. She added nine RBIs and scored nine runs, while also showing versatility on the bases with a stolen base. Her consistent production and reliability in the infield helped anchor Howard Payne during conference play and through the regular season.

"Siannah and Alyana were such important pieces of our success this season," said Bianca Gonzales. "For both of them to earn First Team All-Conference honors speaks to the work they put in every single day. Siannah stepped in as a freshman and played with so much confidence, while Alyana continued to be a steady and dependable leader for us. I'm incredibly proud of both of them and excited for what's ahead for our program."
