Sophia Elizabeth Hurtado joins Howard Payne University as an Assistant Women's Basketball Coach, bringing a strong background in both playing and leadership at the collegiate level.

A native of Cisco, Hurtado began her collegiate career at Hill College, where she competed on the women's basketball team during her freshman year. She went on to continue her athletic and academic career at Texas Wesleyan University, where she played from her sophomore through senior seasons and served as team captain.

Hurtado earned her Bachelor of Science of Kinesiology and was recognized for her academic excellence as a member of the Dean's List.

Prior to her collegiate career, Hurtado was a standout athlete at Cisco High School. Her High School accolades include National Honor Society, TABC All – Region, TABC All – State, TGCA All-Star, Co-Offensive Player of the Year, and District Defensive MVP.
