BROWNWOOD, Texas — The Howard Payne University volleyball team swept Palo Alto College in an exhibition match Tuesday at the Brownwood Coliseum, winning 25-6, 25-8, 25-17.
The Yellow Jackets came out strong in the opening set, recording 13 kills with just one error while hitting .353. Howard Payne continued its strong play in the second set, taking a 25-8 victory.
Taylor Sanderson recorded four of Howard Payne's six service aces in the second set, helping the Yellow Jackets maintain control throughout the set.
Howard Payne closed out the night with a 25-17 win in the third set, recording 10 kills.
Every player on the roster saw playing time, with Jadyn White, Baylee Burns, Keira Jones, Sydnie Mullens and Bella Buzzell playing all three sets. Jones led the Yellow Jackets with six kills while hitting .667. Ashlyn Kelly led the team with six assists.
As a team, Howard Payne recorded 29 kills, 27 assists, 35 digs and four blocks while hitting .261.
UP NEXT: Howard Payne will return to American Southwest Conference play Friday when the Yellow Jackets host Hardin-Simmons University at 6 p.m. at the Brownwood Coliseum.
