
Ferrin Douglas, a Dallas Native and 1990 graduate of W.H. Adamson High School in Dallas, TX, was a standout and four-year letterwinner for the Howard Payne University men’s basketball team. During his time as a Yellow Jacket, Douglas served as a 3-year team captain and led the team to the TIAA Conference Championship in 1992. Douglas received honors as the
Defensive Player of the Year in 1992, 1st Team All-Conference in 1994 and went on to receive his bachelor of science in exercise and sports science in 1995.
Douglas started his coaching career at Lancaster as an assistant before taking the varsity assistant position at Dallas Lincoln High School. At Lincoln, he helped led the team to a 40-0 record and a Texas 4A State Championship and USA Today Mythical National Championship in 2002.
He then took his first head coaching position at Dallas Madison High School leading them to a playoff appearance in his first season at the helm.
Douglas returned to where he started at Lancaster High School as the head coach in 2008 where he has truly made his mark.
Since returning to Lancaster, Douglas has been named 15-4A Coach of the Year in 2008, 2009, 2010, 2012, 2014, 2015 and 2016 as well as the PVILCA Coach Of The Year in 2015 and 2016.
After leading the team to the regional final in 2009 and 2010, Lancaster earned the Texas 5A state titles in 2016 and 2015 with Douglas’ teams being ranked not just at the state level but also at the national level finishing ranked 5th in 2015.
Coach Douglas has been married for 18 years to his wife Tamara Douglas. The couple has 3 children their daughter Kendahl (17) and two son’s Kade (13) and Kollin (10).
