Sandra Faussett-Stoops - 2023 HPU Alumni Coach of the Year

Sandra Faussett-Stoops - 2023 Alumni Coach of the YearA 1987 graduate of Howard Payne University, Coach Sandra Faussett-Stoops has been a varsity volleyball coach for 35 years. In Sandra’s time as a head coach, her teams have won 923 total matches. Coach Faussett is currently number three overall in total career wins among active coaches and in the top 10 all-time in Texas.
At Howard Payne, Sandra was a member of the HPU volleyball program serving as team captain from 1984-1986. She would earn All-Lone Star Conference honors in 1984 and 1986 as well as being named to the Lone Star Conference All-Tournament team in 1984.
Also a member of the tennis program while at HPU, she has the distinct honor of being the only female at HPU to receive the Paul J. Cunningham Memorial Award.
After college, she served as the head coach at Greenville, Highland Park, and came to Waxahachie in 2001.  During the past 21 years, Waxahachie varsity teams have compiled an overall record of 710 wins-237 losses.  The Lady Indians have made the playoffs 20 consecutive years in a row, earned 19 Bi-District championships, 16 Area Championships, 9 Regional Quarterfinalist appearances, and made it to the “Sweet 16” or Regional tournament 11 times.
