Matt Zinser was named Associate Head Coach at Howard Payne in the spring of 2015 after serving six years as the Yellow Jacket assistant men's coach.

Coach Matt Zinser began his first full season with the HPU coaching staff in 2009. A 1st Team All-Region player at Burnet HS, Matt played for Howard Payne from 2003 to the 2006 season. Matt appeared in over 90 games for Howard Payne and his junior and senior seasons was one of the premier defensive players in the American Southwest Conference. 

Matt in his senior year helped the Jackets to their only 20 win season in the previous twelve years and an American Southwest Conference West Division Title. That season he was named ASC Honorable Mention All-West Division. 

Matt was a student assistant coach in 2006-2007 and graduated from Howard Payne in May of 2008 with a degree in Exercise and Sport Science. He stayed around as a volunteer assistant coach for the 2008-2009 season.

Since joining the staff full-time, he has been a key part of the recruiting process of players, on court coaching and instruction, and operations of the program.
