Troy Drummond

Troy Drummond is in his 13th season as head coach of the Howard Payne men’s basketball program. The previously years he served as the assistant coach of the Yellow Jackets.

Coach Drummond has coached several All-Conference players including All-Region player Khyce Randall who was an All-ASC Team and  First Team All-West Division selection for three consecutive seasons, and in 2018 became just the third player and the first guard in American Southwest Conference history to lead the league in scoring (25.8) and rebounding (9.5).

During his tenure as head coach of the Yellow Jackets, Drummond's teams have been respected around the ASC being honored as the ASC Team Sportsmanship award winner six times.


In 2014-15, he led the Jackets to a 15-12 record overall and to the second round of the American Southwest Conference tournament. 

Coach Drummond came to Howard Payne from Sidney High School where he was the head boys and girls basketball coach for 12 years. Troy helped out with the HPU men’s program for three seasons as a volunteer assistant coach before coming on full time.

Before Sidney High School, Coach Drummond served as an assistant coach at Baylor, the University of Arkansas-Fort Smith, Lamar University, and the University of Arkansas-Little Rock.

Drummond loves playing golf and spending time with his family and wife Mandy. Troy has four children, sons Garett, Grant, and Tee, and daughter Lauren.
