2020-21: Starting in all 18 games for the Yellow Jackets, James was third on the team in points, scoring 8.3 points per game. He was third on the team in rebounding, averaging five per game. He recorded one double-double this season and had a season-high 18 points versus McMurry.

Previous School: James played a season of basketball at the University of the Ozarks, playing 22 games and starting in seven.  He averaged 11.6 minutes and 2.1 points per game.

HS: James was a four-year letter in basketball at Denton Calvary Academy in Denton, Texas.  While there, he earned All-District, All-Area, and All-State honors.  He also participated in football.

Personal: James is the son of Jay and Liz Helzer and has two siblings.  He is pursuing a degree in Business Administration.
