2022-23: Appearing in nine games for the Yellow Jackets, Hammonds recorded six points and three assists.

2021-22: Hammonds played in 18 games, starting in four of them. He recorded 51 points, 11 rebounds, four assists, and four steals. Hammonds had a season high 14 points versus Concordia University.

HS: Matthew played three years of varsity basketball at Glen Rose High School in Glen Rose, Texas. In his time there, he first-team all-district honors and first team-all region honors. He was also named district MVP. In addition, he was a part of a team that won the district and bi-district championship. He also participated in track, cross country, and golf.

Personal: Matthew is the son of Rick and Betty Hammonds and has two siblings. He is majoring in kinesiology and aspires to be a personal trainer or coach.
