Ty Robinson

Taking over the Lady Jacket softball program in the fall of 2023, Ty Robinson came to Howard Payne after serving as head coach at Jarvis Christian University

While at Jarvis Christian, the Bulldogs led the nation in stolen bases for two seasons and hitting for one season. There, he also holds the school record for most softball wins as head coach.

Before arriving at Jarvis Christian, Coach Robinson led Colorado Northwestern Community College to its most successful season in school history.

Prior to his time at Colorado Northwestern, Robinson served as head coach at Division 1 Coppin State University, where he coached an All-American and a National Batting Champion.

He also led Marshalltown Community College in Iowa to its program-best 35 wins and set a new school mark with 16 conference wins. The team advanced to the semifinals of the NJCAA Region XI Tournament, which was also the best finish in school history.

In addition to his athletic success, Robinson's MCC team was recognized for its academic aptitude and named the NJCAA Softball Academic Team of the Year. He had 11 players named to Academic All-Region teams.

Robinson served as the associate head coach at Division I Mississippi Valley State University for two seasons. He helped lead the Delta Devils to 60 wins over two seasons, including the Southwest Athletic Conference (SWAC) regular season and conference title in 2012. The Delta Devils participated in the 2012 NCAA Division I Softball Tournament.

In his final year at MVSU, Robinson and the rest of the Delta Devils' staff were named the SWAC Coaching Staff of the Year.

Robinson's coaching career began at Rainy River Community College, where he helped lead the Voyageurs to a conference championship and a fourth-place finish at the NJCAA National Tournament. Robinson and the staff were awarded the Regional Coaching Staff of the Year award.

Following a stint at Rainy River, Robinson received his first head-coaching job at McCook Community College; helping lead the Indians to a program record 30 wins in 2008.

Robinson received a bachelor's degree in physical education from Northern State University (SD) in 2003, where he was a pitcher at the age of 37 on the Wolves' baseball team. Robinson also played college basketball at Rainy River College at the age of 33-36.

The Chicago native is currently working toward a master's degree in sports studies from Bemidji State University.
