2011- Kayla was HPU’s strikeout leader with 45 in 87.1 innings pitched and 25 appearances. She had a 4-9 record and 4.41 ERA. She recorded six strikeouts in a game twice and had two hits in four at bats. She was named Academic All-Conference.

2010- Kayla made 21 appearances and started in 14 games as a freshman. She had four wins on the mound with a 5.36 ERA and struck out 26 batters on the year. She threw seven complete games and accumulated 80.2 innings pitched.

HS- Kayla is a graduate of Southwest High School. She was a four year letterman for her softball team. Her team made the playoffs all four years, and only lost three games during that time in the regular season. She was named her team MVP her junior year and the team’s Most Valuable Pitcher her sophomore year.

Personal- Kayla is from Fort Worth, Texas. She is the daughter of Misty and Lawrence Castillo and has two older sisters. She is majoring in Criminal Justice with a minor in Spanish.
