Elliott Hansing

Elliott Hansing serves as the Deputy Director of Athletics at Howard Payne University, bringing a dynamic background in Division I athletics marketing, fan engagement, and operations. Known for his creativity, strategic vision, and passion for elevating the student-athlete experience, Hansing plays a key role in advancing HPU Athletics’ mission of excellence and community impact.

Hansing most recently served as Assistant Athletic Director for Marketing & Fan Engagement at Eastern Illinois University, where he directed marketing, branding, and game presentation efforts for all 17 Division I programs. In that role, he created and executed department-wide promotional calendars, managed a marketing staff tasked with supporting marketing and video operations, and helped strengthen community engagement through enhanced fan experiences.

Prior to Eastern Illinois, Hansing worked as Assistant Director of Athletic Fan Engagement at Sam Houston State University, overseeing game presentation and marketing strategy for 15 Division I programs. During his time at Sam Houston, he helped increase overall social media impressions by 185% and contributed to significant growth in football and men’s basketball season ticket sales with an average growth of 35.5%. He also managed and mentored graduate assistants and undergraduate student workers, emphasizing professional development and leadership.

Hansing has also gained professional sports experience with the Cincinnati Reds and FC Cincinnati, focusing on partnership fulfillment, sponsor activations, and corporate engagement. He began his collegiate athletics career at Xavier University, where he served as a marketing intern and later a lead intern, directing game presentation and in-game promotions for multiple sports.

A native of Racine, Wisconsin, Hansing earned his bachelor’s degree in sports management with a minor in business from Xavier University, graduating cum laude in under four years. He was a Dean’s Scholarship recipient and member of the Dean’s List.

Hansing is driven by a desire to reimagine the modern athletic department, strengthen community connections, and provide a world-class experience for student-athletes. Outside of athletics, he enjoys fitness, travel, and global culture, having lived abroad and visited more than 40 countries.
