BROWNWOOD, TX…Howard Payne's defense was unable to cool the hot bats of McMurry University Friday afternoon losing 12-0 in their American Southwest Conference home opener. Gilbert Curiel (Corpus Christi/West Texas A &M) went 2-for-3 with a double for the Jackets.

Kelly Henderson started on the mound and lasted five innings giving up 12 hits and 10 runs (seven earned).

HPU's defense would commit five errors on the day.

Right fielder, Ryan Kunz (Galveston, TX) went 2-for-4 at the plate with a double and a single.

Both teams will hook up again tomorrow for the second and third games of the series'. The double header begins at 1:00 pm and will be broadcast live on 99.3 KPSM or on the internet.
