HPU would jump out to an early 1-0 lead on Friday, when Moore scored after he led the game off with a single. UMHB would bounce back putting up 16 runs in the next five innings to give them a 16-1 lead. The Jackets would take advantage of a couple of walks and an error by the Crusaders in the top of the ninth to score three runs, but the deficit was too much.

In the first game on Saturday, Joshua Holmes (Brownwood, TX/BHS) took the mound and pitch a complete game, allowing 12 hits and nine runs (four earned) in the six innings he worked.

Moore would once again reach base in his first trip up to the plate and make it back to home to give HPU a 1-0 lead after one-half inning of play. The Crusaders would score one run in the first two innings before breaking the game open with four in the bottom of the third inning. Craig Simpson (Brownwood, TX/BHS) scored in top of the fifth for HPU to make UMHB's lead 5-2. Multiple passed balls combined with a Yellow Jackets error led to three UHMB runs in the bottom of the sixth to help secure their victory.

Logan Nelson (Bedford, TX/Trinity HS) snagged his first collegiate start in Saturday's second game, pitching on one and two-thirds innings. He allowed five hits and four runs (one earned) in this short time on the mound.

HPU would score in the third inning in this game after back-to-back walks by Gilbert Curiel (Corpus Christi, TX/WTAM) and Ryan Kunz (Galveston, TX/GHS) forced home Wren. UMHB held a 4-1 lead at this point. With two outs in the bottom of the sixth, HPU would rally to put three more runs on the board. Cole Ramsey (Academy, TX/Wayland) reached base on walk to lead off the inning. Consecutive fly outs brought Barnes to the plate, he would single to move Ramsey to the second. Moore would double to center to score both runners. Moore would later score on an error by the Crusaders'. HPU narrowed UMHB's lead to 5-4 after the sixth inning.

HPU would score four runs in the top of the ninth to capture their first lead of the ball game, but once again the Crusaders' bats came alive to put runners on base. Back-to-back errors by the Yellow Jackets allowed two UMHB runs to score to give them the victory.

HPU will play host to University of Texas at Dallas on Tuesday and Schreiner University on Thursday and Friday.
