BROWNWOOD, TX…In their last ASC-West Divisional home series of the year the HPU Yellow Jackets surrendered 19 hits and four multi-run innings to drop a 12-3 decision to Sul Ross State Saturday afternoon at Don Shepard Park. Senior, Jason Barnes (Arlington, TX/Tyler JC) blasted his second homer of the season while going 2-for-2 with three walks.

Ryan Kunz (Galveston, TX/GHS) joined Barnes as he left the park in the fourth inning for the second time this year. For the game he was 1-for-2 with a walk.

Doug Wren (Arlington, TX/Tyler JC) started on the mound for HPU lasting five innings striking out seven Lobos and allowing 12 hits and eight earned runs. Logan Nelson (Bedford, TX/Trinity HS) came to relieve Wren but was knocked off the mound after one inning. He allowed three runs on three hits. Joshua Holmes (Brownwood, TX/BHS) and Justin Bowen (Silsbee, TX/Ranger JC) would pitch the final three innings allowing one run on four hits.

Joel Garcia (Clute, TX/Ranger JC) picked up an RBI on a sacrifice fly in the second inning.

HPU will host Texas Wesleyan on Monday for their last regular season series at Don Shepard Park.
