ABILENE, TX…The second place Hardin-Simmons Cowboys were able to hold the Yellow Jackets at bay taking the first game of their three game series 10-1 in Abilene on Friday night. Craig Simpson (Brownwood, TX/BHS) went 2-for-4 and scored the lone run for HPU.

Colby Rowley (Clyde, TX/CHS) threw five innings giving up nine hits and allowing six Cowboys to cross the plate (four earned).

With two outs in the sixth, Simpson doubled and was knocked in on a Cole Ramsey (Academy, TX/Wayland) single.

Ryan Kunz (Galveston, TX/GHS) was the only other Jacket to muster a hit, which he did in the seventh.

Both team will face-off again on Saturday with the first game of the double header beginning at 1:00 pm.
