ABILENE, TX…A cold day at the plate led to two 2-1 loses to Hardin-Simmons today at Hunter Field in Abilene. HPU was only able to put the ball in play eight times for two runs. Craig Simpson (Brownwood, TX/BSH) had the only extra base hit for HPU.

Simpson's double came in the sixth inning of game one when he doubled down the line to score Jason Barnes (Arlington, TX/Tyler JC) from second. Barnes had walked earlier in the inning.

Barnes would also add an RBI in the top of the ninth of game two when he singled in Tye Moore (Justin, TX/Frank Phillips).

HSU stole game one scoring twice in the bottom of the seventh to claim the 2-1 victory in game one. In the second game they scored in the third and the sixth.
