Lady Jackets drop a heart-breaker to HSU

BROWNWOOD, TX – The Lady Jackets held the lead for 39 minutes of the 40 minutes in the game but were unable to hold off Hardin-Simmons in the end. HPU loses 51-48 in the Brownwood Coliseum on Saturday.

The game was not petty as neither team shot above 33% from the floor. The Lady Jackets slowly built a 6-0 lead at the 11:19 mark before HSU finally scored at the 11:03 mark in the first half. HPU maintained their lead throughout the rest of the half to go into the locker room up 21-15 HPU.

In the second HPU extended its lead to as much as 13, but HSU fought their way back in it. In HSU's final run Sarah Hauk hit a 3-pointer to make it 46-40 at the 3:21 mark. Hauk hit two free throws with 16 seconds to make it 51-48.

So. G Meia Daniels(Fossil Ridge HS) led HPU with 20 points and 10 rebounds.

For HSU Dennard had 18 points and Singletary had a career-best 13 points, including 11 in the second half.

The Lady Jackets will be in action on the road Thursday, January 21 against Schreiner at 5:30pm.
