BROWNWOOD, Texas - The Lady Jackets forced 30 East Texas Baptist turnovers on their way to a 76-39 win on Thursday night in the Brownwood Coliseum.
HPU guard Meia Daniels (Fort Worth), had her first double-double of the season with a game-high 19 points and game-high 10 rebounds.
Howard Payne found themselves down early in the game as ETBU started on a 12-0 run. HPU guard Kristin Hendrick (Ann Arbor, Mich) broke the HPU drought with a 3-point bucket at the 16:25 mark in the first half. That shot openned the flood gate as the Lady Jackets then went on a dominating run holding ETBU to only 11 more points over the last 16 minutes of the first half. HPU went into the half with a 34-23 lead.
The Lady Jackets defense stepped it up even more in the second half only allowing only 16 ETBU second-half points. HPU posted a 76-39 win.
The Lady Jackets were led by Meia Daniels' double-double, 19 points and 10 rebounds. Kim Hoffman (Bloomington) had 13 and Stacey Blalock (Magnolia) had 10 points, 7 rebounds, and 3 blocks. Kristin Hendrick came off the bench to score 12 on 4 of 7 shooting from the 3-point line.
ETBU was led by Mary Slaughter with 14 points and 4 rebounds.
