Balanced Scoring Leads Lady Jackets Past UT-Tyler

TYLER, Texas - The Lady Jackets of Howard Payne used 5 players scoring 9 or more points each to lift them past the Lady Patriots of the University of Texas at Tyler 84-52 on Saturday afternoon.

HPU center Stacey Blalock (Magnolia) lead the Lady Jackets with 16 points and 7 rebounds. Kim Hoffman (Bloomington) had a double double with 10 points and 10 rebounds. Meia Daniels (Fort Worth) had 13 points.

UT-Tyler was never in the game as HPU built an early lead. The Lady Jackets held UT-Tyler to just 29.6% shooting from the floor in the first half to go into the break with a 46-20 lead.

As the Lady Jackets have done ever game this season so far, it was more of the same in the second half as HPU extended their lead to as much as 40 (72-32) with 10 minutes left to play. Final score 84-52 HPU.

UT-Tyler was led by Shamonica Shead who score a game-high 23 points.

Howard Payne will play again on Monday at the University of Texas at Dallas; it will be a 3:00 p.m. start.
