BROWNWOOD, Texas - The Lady Jackets were hitting on all cylinders as they downed the Lady Mountaineers of Schreiner University 92-33 in the last regular season game on the year on Saturday in the Brownwood Coliseum .
The Lady Jackets started off the game with two consecutive 3-pointers by Heather Hohertz(Priddy, TX) and Meia Daniels(Fort Worth, TX). HPU built a 15-4 lead on 3-pointer by Meia Daniels with 13:45 before half. They extended the lead to 24-8 with most of the bench in the game at 9:44 on the clock. The Lady Jackets went into the locker room with their largest halftime lead of the season, 50-15. HPU shot 53.1% from the field in the first half.
It was more of the same in the second half as Howard Payne went on a 25-3 run over the course of 9 minutes. From then the HPU bench played the rest of the game. Nothing seemed to go Schreiner's way as the Lady Jackets won 92-33.
HPU had four players score in double digits, Meia Daniels with 16 to lead all scorers, Stacey Blalock(Magnolia, TX) and Jenny Janda(Houston, TX) with 14, and Heather Hohertz with 10. In her last regular season game as a Lady Jacket, Joslyn Robinson(Austin, TX) had a game high 9 rebounds.
Tasha Fennell led Schreiner with a team high 8 points and 7 rebounds.
The Lady Jackets next game will be in the first round of the 2006 ASC Women's Championship Tournament at Mississippi College on Friday, February 24, 2005 at 5:30 p.m.
